Medical Examination

When you apply for a US visa you will need to have a medical examination done at one of the listed hospitals in Thailand which the US Embassy will recommend. They are well aware of what is needed for the US visa at the hospital so they will be able to assist you in this regard. The following is the basic requirements for the medical examination for a K1 Visa or even a CR1 Visa or K3 visa.

1. If this is for a K2 Visa then a chest Xray is no needed if the child is under the age of 15 unless symptoms of tuberculosis (TB) exist. Everyone else needs to have a chest Xray including pregnant applicants.

2. US immigration law dictates that all applicants must be inoculated for the following. Note that if you had had them before then you need to ensure that you bring a letter with to state that you have had these inoculations. Speak to the immigration lawyer about this matter in Thailand.

  • Mumps
  •  Measles
  •  Rubella
  •  Polio
  •  Tetanus
  •  Diphtheria
  •  Pertussis
  •  Haemophilus influenzae Type B
  •  Rotavirus
  •  Hepatitis A
  •  Hepatitis B
  •  Meningococcal disease
  •  Varicella
  •  Pneumococcal
  •  Influenza
Note that the medical examination is done way before the US visa interview at the US Embassy.
