If you have applied for a K1 Visa in Thailand or a K2 visa for your Thai child/children then the interview ill take place at the US embassy in Bangkok. There are a number of issues that you have to take note of with regards to this interview as listed by the US government. This is a brief listing of the issues:
1. You will be informed before the interview which additional documents to bring with you to the interview at the Embassy. Also nobody will tell you that your visa has been approved except for the consular officer who is about to issue you with the US visa;
2. Note that you are not allowed to bring any electronic device to the US Embassy. That means mobile phone, ipad or computer. The US embassy has become very strict about electronic devices at the embassy in Thailand.
.
3. Make certified copies of all documents as you might not get the original documents back. Provide notarized copies and keep the originals on you in the event that they wish to see the original documents.
.
4. Your fiancee’s Thai passport must be valid for at least 6 months when the visa is issued or she would have to return with a new passport.
.
5. The K1 visa is not an immigrant visa and it is only there so you may travel to the US to marry within 90 days of arrival in the US. You may also not leave the US until your status has been adjusted after marriage or it will invalidate the K1 Visa.
.
6. Note that the K2 visa for the child/children has to be issued within 1 year of the K1 visa having been issued.
.
7. Do not sell your property or leave your employment until such time that the visa has been issued.
